Our Vision

We are known for our broad view on business education and development and we are able to plan, handle, and reflect on large projects concerning teaching and research.

Mission Statement

We are an autonomous department at the Faculty of Social- and Economic Sciences, which has ensured its strong position in the field of business education and development in the Austrian as well as in the international scientific community, using our core competences, which are research guided teaching and research.

Thinking in new ways ...

We view ourselves as a research and education institution, inwhich the individual is important. We and the students benefit from the good relationships between our students and us. This relationship is establish by treating them respectfully, accepting that they are individuals, and creating an open, friendly atmosphere with humor. We live the principle of continuous improvement process to enhance development and lifelong learning. One of our explicit strengths is that we are a team that is characterized by competence, creativity, engagement, innovation and motivation. The scientific advancement of our colleagues is a special concern and active support is granted regularly. We aim to improve our core competences by networking with other national and international institutions. Further our work provides a valuable contribution to economic and social progress.

Research independently ...

Our research area is the Economy - Pedagogy provides the orientation lines. We work on diverse subjects that revolve around learning, development, and education of individuals in an economic context and try to keep a broad view on the field of business education and development. We deliver high quality contributions to research areas such as teacher education, corporate education, adult education, education management, and quality development in enterprises and in the field of education. Further we aim to present and publish our results nationally as well as internationally and transfer them to the workplace.

Teaching differently ...

Research is the prerequisite for our teaching and quality the uppermost objective. It is our purpose to provide professional qualification to facilitate the flexible and effective knowledge transfer between theory and practice. Our teaching foundation is the principle of holistic education and we think of ourselves as being students’ academic companions, who constantly support them in their personal and professional development. We require our students in turn to be willing to learn, to be critical, and to be able and motivated to reflect.
