Understanding

The teachers’ education is being reorganised in Sweden right now. Teachers' education in Business subjects includes 90 credits (ECTS) in basic teachers’ education and 330 credits (ECTS) in business subjects. Especially Malmö University has a new teachers' education in Business Subjects. At other universities you can study for a Master in Business Administration and then continue your studies at a university which offers Basic Teacher's Education (90 credits). Most universities except Malmö do not have specific Master programs for teachers in Business subjects./typo3/

Vocational education and training

In order to teach in upper secondary school and adult education at upper secondary level a higher education degree in vocational education (yrkeslärarexamen) is required. Basically in Sweden a teacher registration is necessary to confirm that the teacher is qualified to teach these subjects. Due to the lack of qualified teachers in vocational education and training teachers in that field are excluded from such teacher registration. Despite this exception, an application for registration can be done when a professional vocational teacher qualification exists./typo3/

At the university or college a higher education degree in vocational education can be completed by studying one and a half years in vocational teacher training. In order to be allowed to teach additional relevant vocational knowledge or post-upper secondary education in the subjectis required. People who work in vocational education already and do not have a vocational degree can make up for this degree at a university or college within a year. The professional teacher education essentially involves methodology, namely general teaching knowledge and skills, and also a practial supervised training in a school (verksamhetsförlagdutbildning, VFU)./typo3/
